Roblox parent account: how to link your child's account and check the result
Use two separate accounts, follow the invitation and official age-check flow, then verify the correct child in Parental Controls. Practical guidance for settings, email, account mistakes and unlinking.
Understand the link and define a successful result #
Parental management on Roblox starts by linking two accounts: the adult's own account and the child's account. This lets the adult open available insights and controls from their own device. Linking does not merge the profiles into one or require using the child's account every time a setting changes. Define the result before starting: you want to see the intended child's account in Parental Controls while signed into your own parent account. That is more precise than trying to press every button in a tutorial. Completing individual screens does not yet establish the intended link.
Consider an invented household with adult account A and child accounts B and C. A decision intended for B should not be made in C's card simply because their avatars look similar. Write down the exact usernames for your own check. Display names can provide another clue, but should not be your only way to identify the profiles. This example contains no real family information. It explains why the account pair needs checking before confirmation and afterwards. Successfully linking a different child would still fail the task you actually meant to complete.
Prepare your own account and invitation address #
If the adult already has a Roblox account, the official instructions allow using it. If there is no account, the offered process includes creating one. Do not create another profile merely because the expected screen is not immediately obvious; first identify which existing account you intend to manage from. Open its profile and check the username. The email route also has a specific requirement: the email on the adult's account must match the address that received the invitation. Check this separately from the display name or the avatar currently visible in the browser.
Before continuing, record three things for yourself: the adult account, the child account and the route you will use. If starting from email, include the invitation's recipient address in your private notes. Do not publish those notes together with sign-in codes or the invitation link. If the browser is already signed into another profile you own, resolve that selection first. Otherwise, you may complete an age check in an account you did not intend to use. This preparation is about accurate account matching; it is not a way to change the child's age or bypass Roblox's requirements.
Start from the child's parental-control settings #
The official route from the child's account is Settings → Parental Controls → Add parent. On desktop, Settings opens through the gear icon at the upper right; the mobile instructions use More at the lower right, followed by Settings. Find Parental Controls and read the offered process for adding a parent. If the appearance differs, compare the names and purpose of the step rather than the position in an old screenshot. Do not replace this process with an older Parent PIN tutorial. The current task is to link an adult's account to the child's account.
Confirm the child's username before proceeding from these settings. This matters on a shared device where another profile may have been open previously. Follow the current form and keep the stages separate: open Add parent, select or open the adult account, complete the required check and finish linking. Merely displaying the add-parent form does not change the result you are trying to verify. If you stop there, an accurate note says “Add parent opened; link not yet confirmed.” It should not say that parental controls have already been configured or that a specific restriction is active.
Follow the email using the correct adult account #
If Roblox sends a request for parental permission, you can begin linking from that email route. Choose Use existing account if you already have your own account, or the offered Create account route if you do not. For an existing account, compare its email with the invitation's recipient address, as the official help requires. Read which child the action concerns and which adult account will be used. Receiving the email, opening its link and completing the link are three different events. The message's arrival alone is not evidence that parental management is ready.
If you open the email on a phone whose browser is already signed into another account, check the selected profile before further confirmation. Describe any mismatch precisely: “The invitation arrived at address X, but the open account uses another address.” That is more useful than assuming the entire system is broken. The help also describes revisiting the email link and choosing Use existing account. Use that for your own process while preserving the correct account pair. An invitation link is not material to post on a public forum or pass to an unknown person offering assistance.
Complete the adult's official age check #
Roblox's FAQ says parent privileges require an age check confirming the adult is at least 18, with linking conditions described in terms of regional availability. Follow the methods the official screen offers for your particular case. The linking article names government-issued ID and a credit card; the FAQ also mentions facial age estimation. This does not mean every method is available to every person at the same time. Read the conditions of the selected method before providing information. Starting to fill out a verification form does not establish that the age check succeeded.
This guide explains the stages; it does not perform identity verification on Roblox's behalf. Do not send verification documents to our website. If the process stops, record which official screen you reached and the message displayed, without copying sensitive details into a public discussion. Do not try to repair the outcome with an invented birth date or by repeatedly creating child accounts. The goal is the required confirmation for your own adult account. If the chosen method did not complete, linking cannot yet be treated as finished even when the invitation and email address are correct.
Confirm linking and verify it from the parent side #
The official instructions describe the page refreshing after the age check, followed by an Agree option to link to the child's account. Before making that decision, read the displayed conditions and check the intended account again. Age verification and confirmation of the account link are separate stages. After completing the process, open Settings → Parental Controls in the adult's own account and find the child. Verify the username instead of relying only on a picture. If several children appear, select the intended one. Access to the child's ordinary game profile does not replace this result check.
Separate the completed link from later decisions about controls. Linking alone does not establish that you set a daily limit, allowed a particular game or selected your preferred restrictions. Available controls depend on the child's age and current rules. Begin by reading the state of the selected account, then make each further decision deliberately. A good result for this lesson is “Parent account A shows child B in Parental Controls; username checked.” The table below identifies the observation that supports each stage and explains why completing an earlier step is not the same as confirming the final result.
| Observation | What it confirms | What remains to check |
|---|---|---|
| Email received | Invitation available | Intended adult account |
| Add parent opened | Route started | Exact child account |
| Age check completed | One stage completed | Final account linking |
| Child appears for parent | Link to that account | Matching username |
| Link confirmed | Ready to review controls | Each separate decision |
Identify the missing stage if the child does not appear #
If the intended account is absent, revisit the checks in process order: correct parent profile, matching email for the email route, completed age check, final linking confirmation and correct child selection? Do not change several things at once. Record the observation after each check, such as “Age check completed, but the linking screen has not been confirmed.” That identifies a specific stopping point. A missing child card does not, by itself, reveal which previous step was unfinished or completed using another profile. Investigate the stages rather than repeatedly starting from the beginning without comparing the outcome.
If those checks do not resolve the problem, prepare a Roblox Support request. Include the relevant usernames, device, selected route, last completed stage and exact message. The official help asks you to choose the question category and describe the issue thoroughly. If a screenshot is needed, show the relevant interface state and remove unrelated personal details. Do not send us age-check documents or create new child profiles as a diagnostic experiment. A clear description of the account pair and failing stage is more useful than repeated invitations without a record of what you have already confirmed.
Understand Unlink and keep a clear final note #
Unlinking is a separate change that removes the adult's ability to manage the child through that link. Do not use Unlink as an ordinary page refresh or the first response to an unfamiliar screen. The documented route starts in Parental Controls: select the intended child, open the pencil icon, choose Unlink accounts and confirm Unlink. Use it when you actually intend to remove the link and understand which account pair is affected. A missing control does not automatically mean all parental management should be removed immediately. First identify what is missing and what the chosen action changes.
After successful linking, keep a short private note stating which adult account is used, which child appears and which controls still need separate decisions. Roblox says different parents can link to the same child through their own separate accounts; this is not a reason to share one password among all adults. Recheck the selected child before each significant settings decision. A final note may also describe incomplete progress accurately: “Invitation opened in the correct account; stopped at the age check.” That helps resume from the right stage without presenting an assumption as a confirmed account link.
