Roblox error 901 on Xbox: registration, sign-in and account linking
Identify where error 901 appears, check registration username syntax and test the same account from another device on your home network. Keep Gamertag linking and an actual moderation notice separate.
Identify the stage that produced error 901 #
When Roblox on Xbox displays 901, record the complete message and the action immediately before it. Were you creating an account, signing into an existing one or linking a Gamertag? The official article describes different checks for these situations. Removing the app or declaring the account banned before identifying the stage is premature. Look at the screen that actually opened and what it offers. If the application never opens and no code appears, use the separate official Xbox general troubleshooting source below. That is a different observation from a displayed sign-in error.
Prepare a starting note such as “Opened Roblox on Xbox, selected existing-account sign-in, then received 901.” This is a fictional example; replace it with your actual event. Keep passwords and one-time codes out of screenshots. Note the console model only if you know it, and the time of the attempt. An account existing on a computer does not prove a successful console sign-in. A new screen also does not prove completed linking. A clear note lets you compare the next attempt without restarting every task and losing track of the point at which its outcome changed.
For registration, inspect the username itself #
In the registration branch, inspect the username rather than the profile's display name. The error article specifies 3 to 20 characters, Latin letters and numbers, and at most one underscore within the name. An underscore at the beginning or end does not fit. Avoid personal information and inappropriate wording. The fictional TrailBuilder_7 illustrates a form only; it is not reserved for you and does not promise registration success. First inspect the spelling, then read the official interface's actual response to your chosen name. A name that looks suitable is not a completed account.
Compare invented examples without submitting dozens of guesses. _TrailBuilder begins with an underscore; Trail__Builder has two; TrailBuilder_ ends with one. These are concrete syntax observations, not tests of name availability. A name with suitable syntax can still be rejected for other reasons, so do not call it available after a visual inspection. Do not replace it with your phone number, home address or full name. If you already own an account and intended to sign into it, do not create a replacement just to follow this branch. Return to the existing-account check instead of mixing registration and recovery.

For a sign-in problem, open official Roblox on your own computer or phone using your home network. Use the account you actually intended to connect to Xbox. Verify its username; a similar display name or avatar can lead to the wrong profile. If the username or password has been forgotten, start with official recovery and the relevant guide below. Do not record “signed in” while a password field, further verification request or other notice still blocks the process. You need the observed outcome for the intended account, rather than proof that the website loaded.
A teaching log has two fields: checking device and result. For example, “Phone, own profile opened, username checked,” or “Computer, sign-in stopped at a message.” Neither example confirms anything about your account. Preserve the exact unresolved message without its secrets. On a shared family browser, it is easy to open someone else's saved profile and mistake that for your own success. Do not change that person's password or treat their access as evidence of your access. If the other-device check was not completed, record that honestly; the distinction already helps choose the next support route.
After successful sign-in, repeat Xbox on the same home network #
The official 901 branch suggests a successful sign-in on another device on the home network, followed by another Xbox One sign-in using that same home network. Preserve the sequence, not merely the fact that internet access exists somewhere. A phone using mobile data and a console at home do not establish the same comparison as two devices on the same home network. This describes the source's troubleshooting attempt, rather than a guaranteed fix. Do not disable network protection or overhaul the router for it. Prepare access to your own account and inspect the result on the console itself.
Record paired observations: other device succeeded; Xbox's code disappeared, remained or changed. Do not mark Xbox repaired merely because the phone signed in. If a different code appears, save it separately and use its matching help route. In a fictional test the computer signs in, while the console still displays 901. The documented attempt therefore did not resolve that test's problem. Do not label all servers broken from this result alone. This comparison does not prove that every experience is available, every account link is correct, or another account has no restrictions; it concerns the actual attempt you recorded.

For a linking failure, establish which Roblox account and Xbox Gamertag you intended to connect. A separate Roblox help article states that a Roblox account can link to only one Xbox Gamertag. That is a linking condition, not an automatic explanation for every 901. Do not publish a family account list to explain the situation. Younger players should involve a parent with the official settings check. We do not recommend changing a birth date, inventing an age or disconnecting an existing link as a mandatory repair. Establish the actual account state before deciding on a separate account action.
The 901 article also suggests inspecting moderation status by signing in on another device. If a notice is actually shown there, preserve its content and use the official appeal route if you wish to challenge the decision. If no notice appeared, do not enter a ban as an established fact in the report. An appeal does not guarantee removal, and reinstalling on a console does not replace review of a decision. This also differs from a ban within an individual experience. Use the actual location and text of your refusal, instead of applying an experience creator's restriction instructions to an account notice.
Prepare support details and inspect the final outcome #
For unresolved problems, the Xbox general help source requests the Roblox username, Xbox Gamertag, received messages or codes, and relevant recent account or internet changes. Copy the Gamertag accurately, retaining its case. Send those details through official support, not passwords or sign-in codes alongside them in a public post. Include your short sequence: 901 stage, other-device result, home-network comparison and Xbox outcome. Do not mark a step completed merely because you read about it. An unknown value should remain unknown rather than be filled with another player's model or a guessed account state.
A fictional final note is “Sign-in, not registration; same profile opened on a phone on the home network; repeat console attempt returned 901; no moderation notice seen on the phone.” It is a template, not diagnosis of the owner. After assistance, repeat the original stage and separately check entry into the chosen experience. Successful linking does not establish that a particular experience is console-compatible. End with what you observed, rather than a claim that this procedure fixes every user's console or account.
